While the popularity of Big Data has taken the world by storm, the popularity of Hadoop framework and MongoDB – two quintessential technologies for Hadoop is also gaining popularity among programmers.

Hadoop is not simple to understand. A professional with experience in Java can master Hadoop easily, since Hadoop is written in Java. Moreover, Hadoop is an open-source and a programmer may often have to delve deep inside the code to understand the characteristics of some functions or modifying the code as per requirement.

On the other hand, MongoDB has also gained a massive attention as a popular NoSQL database. The database is now accepted globally and is reported to have it implemented in various top-notch organizations.

Compared to web development and design skill which are the major areas for developers, the shift towards DBA is increasing at a rapid pace. According to a survey conducted by indeed.com, the average salary of a DBA is $81,000 and an experienced DBA professional may bank a whopping $100,000 yearly income. For a data architect, with experience in data modeling, warehousing, data analysis and migration, the salary can reach up to $107,000.

While the aforesaid instance goes for a database expert, an experienced professional experience in MongoDB and Hadoop lives at the highest stature. The demands are ever increasing as organizations are constantly looking for such experts to handle and research large data sets.

Another possible option for a newcomer in this field of development is the opportunity as a freelance. It is inevitable that with the increase of this trend, there will be a definitive increase in outsourcing and the freelance developers trying to hook up with this new technology would surely stand higher in the long run. Also if somebody has cherished a dream to be an entrepreneur, knowledge on MongoDB and Hadoop would surely be a stepping stone to success.

The aspect of data research and mining will never diminish and with the rise of e-commerce and online data storage, the trend towards Big Data will surely be a success as we see by now. But it is important to check upon the number of professionals that can be found to cater such increasing requests with the years to come.

MongoDB is not a complex database system. It is quite simple for a layman to understand the database, with knowledge in database concepts. But for Hadoop, knowledge of Java will definitely be an added advantage but that’s again no restricted. A developer can write programs in Python or PHP which Hadoop will successfully transfer it into a Java library. However, a basic knowledge on Data Warehousing is very much essential for everyone looking to venture this new technology. Apache has also done commendable task to introduce Pig and Hive to handle big data task. This is positively one big advantage for a Hadoop aspirant having no knowledge in Java.

The rise of MongoDB and Hadoop has already made a stellar entry into the realm of Big Data and it can be surely expected that new technologies to ease the big data processing will land in the market in the coming days. An application if it can be treated in a simple manner will gain more popularity and one can expect new innovative applications down-the-line to make big data an easy task for the technocrats.
